Tioga County, New York

Tioga County has 4 elected coroners. The role of the Tioga County Coroner’s Office is to make inquiry into all deaths within the county that are unattended or violent in nature as prescribed by law, Article 17-A Sections 670-678. The Coroner shall also make inquiry into all deaths whether natural or unnatural in his/her county occurring to an inmate of a correctional facility as defined by subdivision 3 of section 40 of the correction law, whether or not the death occurred inside such facility. The Coroner shall perform such additional and related duties as maybe prescribed by law.
