The Town of Tioga consists of 58.68 square miles and is located in the center of the County. The Susquehanna River forms the southern border, the Town and Village of Owego are to the east, the Town of Candor to the north, and the Town of Barton to the west. The 2010 Census says that the population is 4,871, an increase of 31 from the 2000 Census, and the primary industry is agriculture. Tioga Central School, located in the hamlet of Tioga Center along NYS Route 17C, prides itself in offering high quality education with first-class facilities in a rural setting. The Town includes Ransom Park, a public park that hosts many community picnics, youth sporting events, and the annual Tioga Center Pumpkin Festival. The Skyview Drags & Shangri-La II Motor Speedway provide motor sports entertainment and attractions. There are 4 hamlets in the Town of Tioga, they include Tioga Center, Smithboro, Halsey Valley, and Straits Corners.
