Election Inspector Annual Training Notice

If you are interested in becoming an Election Inspector (aka Election Day Poll Worker), or are a current Election Inspector looking to renew your certification, please call our office at 607-687-8261 to sign up for the mandatory annual training to be an Election Inspector.  Choose one class date to attend at the Board of Elections office within the Health and Human Services Building at 1062 State Route 38, Owego across from the Public Safety Building.

Training held at the Board of Elections, 1062 State Route 38, Owego:

**The evening class is specifically for individuals who work during the day and are unable to attend a morning or afternoon class.

Training Class Agenda:

• Election Inspector Oath
• Setting up a poll site and processing voters using an electronic poll book
• Operating the optical scan voting machine
• Exam

Classes have a maximum capacity of 20. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

Once you have called the office to sign up, the required reading materials can be mailed or emailed.  These materials are necessary to read prior to attending your class.

A passing grade for the exam is 70%. You cannot be certified if you do not pass the exam, and you will not be assigned for the upcoming elections if you are not certified. This training certification is valid thru July of 2023.

• You have a family member as a candidate on the ballot
